Inspire
Demo Projects
Inspire West Midlands
MLA West Midlands supported three demonstration projects in Coventry, Stoke and Wolverhampton. The three projects worked with adult learners who were outside formal education, encouraging them to access public and Higher Education libraries to find out information and to develop skills.
The libraries involved in the three projects developed co-operative access agreements which resulted in increased use of library resources by selected learners. The groups piloted procedures and training materials, developed by the Project Officer, which were evaluated and will be revised to contribute to the development of the Inspire England programme.

Inspire North West
Two demonstration projects are supported by MLA: North West, one in Liverpool and the other in Cumbria.
In Liverpool, the project has reviewed the existing access to libraries agreement and worked with groups of learners to assess their learning resource requirements. In Cumbria, three groups of learners were invited to visit libraries and attend focus groups, where their learning needs and awareness of resources were investigated.
Both these projects linked directly with social inclusion and widening participation agendas by working with ‘hard to reach' groups such as asylum seekers or refugees and SureStart mothers.
